The Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, endorsed the message offered by the North American President, Joe Biden, before the Seventy-sixth General Assembly of the UN, in which he talked about the fight against corruption and in favor of democracy and peace that Venezuelans are waging against Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship.
“Authoritarianism pretends to proclaim the end of democracy, but it is wrong. The truth is that the democratic world is everywhere. It lives in anti-corruption activists, human rights defenders, journalists, peace protesters who are at the forefront of this fight in Belarus, Burma, Syria, Cuba, Venezuela and everywhere else,” said President Biden.
Mr. Vecchio, ambassador of the Interim Government of President Juan Guaidó, immediately endorsed the message in a tweet as a reply to the US President before UNGA 76.
“You are right! @POTUS @JoeBiden, democracy lives in Venezuelans who fight against corruption and crimes against humanity committed by Maduro’s dictatorship. We need to restore democracy and a #VenezuelaLibre (Free Venezuela). Freedom must prevail over authoritarianism.”
