The Venezuelan ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, urged the more than 320,000 Venezuelans in the United States who could benefit from TPS to ‘register en masse’ before September 5th, while asking the rest of the diaspora in North American territory to work together so that “the greatest number of people can obtain this protection measure.”
“The new challenge that we have, together again, is to push for the largest number of Venezuelans to register in the TPS. Let’s make that effort together, let’s keep spreading the word, let’s keep guiding Venezuelans so that they can register before September 5th, when the 6-month period expires,” he said.
The Venezuelan diplomat recalled that the Embassy has made available the channels to provide accurate information about the TPS and guide Venezuelans who require immigration benefits. As well as the publication of a guide where the Directorate of Consular Affairs answers frequently asked questions about the application process and about the employment permit for TPS, available on the website www.us.embajadavenezuela.org.
Vecchio expressed his deep appreciation for the support of the Venezuelan struggle by the Joe Biden administration, Senators and Congressmen who in a bipartisan way have promoted benefits to protect Venezuelans in the United States.
He stressed that the achievement of TPS is also thanks to “the Venezuelan diaspora in the US, probono lawyers, journalists, activists and NGOs who have pushed to achieve it and today it is a reality thanks to a struggle that has taken place united.”
The diplomat called on Venezuelans in the US not to lose focus. “We ask all of you to continue fighting together. All our efforts together with the entire Venezuelan diaspora here have to continue fighting so that the democratic transition in Venezuela is achieved as soon as possible,” said the representative of the Interim Government of Juan Guaidó in the United States.
He recalled that the Embassy under his care has made available, to those who require it, the answers to the frequently asked questions, as well as instructions for applying to the TPS and the Employment Permit. “All the tools are available on the official website www.us.embajadavenezuela.org.”
