The Ambassador to Canada, Orlando Viera-Blanco, called the decision of Nicolás Maduro’s regime to appoint a new board of directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE), through the illegitimate Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), “illegitimate, irrational, illegal and unconstitutional.”
“The decision of the judicial appendix of the Caracas dictatorship, which appoints CNE authorities, is illegitimate, illegal and unconstitutional. It seeks to create a biased drummer that leads to a fraudulent and manipulated electoral event. Venezuela wants to elect fairly, transparently and freely,” he said Saturday through his personal Twitter account.
The diplomat reiterated that the appointment of the leadership of the new CNE corresponds strictly to a majority of two-thirds of the members of the National Assembly (NA).
Viera-Blanco recalled that Venezuelans want free, transparent and fair elections.
“We do not want elections based on a manifestly manipulated directory of the dictator of Caracas to perpetuate itself in power, I mean, a directive appointed to its measure,” he ended.
