The Venezuelan Embassy in Brazil inaugurated this Thursday the first Center of Attention to the Venezuelan (CAV) in the city of Boa Vista, in Roraima. With the presence of the ambassador in Brazil, Maria Teresa Belandria, the embassy’s team and regional authorities. The opening of this new unit means the creation of a space that will provide advice and attention to the thousands of Venezuelans living in the capital of the State of Roraima who had to flee Venezuela due to the crisis created by the regime.
Currently, Venezuelan residents in Roraima are without consular services in the state due to the occupation of the Venezuelan consulate by officials of Nicolas Maduro’s regime. Despite the recent declaration of persona non grata by the Brazilian government, former officials in Boa Vista and in six other cities where our country has consular offices, insist on usurping those spaces and even claiming authority that does not correspond to them, even charging fees of $50 or more to issue documents that have no validity whatsoever, signed by persons not accredited by the government of this country.
In Brazil there are already almost 280 thousand Venezuelans who require consular attention. Ambassador Maria Teresa Belandria, accompanied by Minister Counselor Tomas Silva, expressed her satisfaction with the inauguration of the headquarters of this facility in Boa Vista:
“Our citizens deserve to have their procedures carried out and to be attended to with dignity. The opportunity to access a better job or to change their immigration status is in our hands and we will not stop because we do not have a physical location. This diplomatic delegation works for all Venezuelans.”
Under the coordination of Ricardo Delgado, representative of the embassy in the state of Roraima, a group of volunteers will provide the necessary support for the operation of this first Center for Attention to Venezuelans in Brazil. During the ceremony, Delgado also addressed those present and highlighted “We are making history. This will be the Center of all Venezuelans who will rescue the freedom of Venezuela”.
According to the recently published “Thematic Atlas – Venezuelan Migrations” made by the University of Campinas, Roraima is the Brazilian State with the largest number of Venezuelan migrants adding up to about 83 thousand citizens.
The embassy has a new web page
Also this Thursday, the embassy’s website was launched. This new service will allow all Venezuelans in Brazil to make their consular registration and other services digitally and free of charge. “One of our greatest concerns is not being able to attend to the numerous requests from the Venezuelan community in Brazil.”
With this new system, practically everyone who has a cell phone will be able to access our website and resolve various procedures,” highlighted Ambassador Belandria. In the last two months, the demands for document certification have exceeded the capacity of the embassy, which operates thanks to a small group of volunteers. With the operation of the website, Venezuelan citizens in Brazil will be able to carry out procedures and be updated on the management carried out by Ambassador Belandria and her team.
