The Venezuelan ambassador to Canada, Orlando Viera-Blanco, warned this Thursday that the alliance between the Nicolas Maduro dictatorship and Iran represents a danger for Venezuela and the whole region.
“The regime is turning Venezuela into the epicenter of a process of Islamization, of radicalization of the conflict that could produce a kind of Somalization within the country, a fragmentation and disputes of great proportions in the entire Latin American sub-region,” Viera-Blanco emphasized.
In this regard, the Venezuelan ambassador stressed that it is necessary to warn and seek ways to prevent it.
Likewise, the diplomat highlighted the support that the Canadian government has given to President (e) Juan Guaidó and the National Assembly.
“Canada has been a fundamental pillar in the struggle for the democratic restoration and freedom of Venezuela. It has contributed significantly in the humanitarian field, in 2019 it allocated more than 53 million dollars, which were administered through Global Bank and various non-governmental institutions in order to alleviate the burden of famine, the absence of medicine and food in the country,” he said.
“Recently, following the donors’ conference, it disbursed 27 million dollars to assist Venezuelan migrants and refugees,” the diplomat said.
Finally, the representative of the Legitimate Government of Venezuela referred to the progress made by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on crimes in Venezuela and said that “we hope that justice will be done, that there will finally be a decision of formal investigation against Nicolas Maduro and his chain of command.”
