The Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, held a meeting with the Lithuanian congressmen, Chairman Emanuelis and the president of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Žygimantas Pavilionis, in which they addressed the humanitarian crisis that Venezuela is going through.
The Venezuelan diplomat reported that during the meeting he thanked Lithuania for its firm commitment in the fight for the restoration of freedom and democracy in Venezuela.
“We also thanked Pavilionis for his support of the President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, and his actions to advance towards a democratic transition. In a joint statement with Senator Bob Menéndez, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Senate and other counterparts around the world,” Vecchio added.
Furthermore, he indicated that their voices are necessary to raise awareness in Europe to free Venezuela.
Lithuania is one of the countries that make up the European coalition that together with the Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Senate in support of the Unitary Platform in the negotiations in Mexico.
“We express our full support for the National Unity Platform of Venezuela, as it represents the will of the Venezuelan people to stop the country’s slide towards autocracy, poverty, and chaos,” they expressed in a joint statement.
