The team of volunteers that serves the Roraima Venezuelan Attention Center (CAV), inaugurated by the Venezuelan embassy in Brazil on October 1st and led by Ricardo Delgado, issued 747 documents in its first month of operation.

Despite the pandemic and the limitations of working only with volunteers, the CAV Roraima established a three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) as public service attention days, which has allowed it to attend diligently and professionally many Venezuelans residing in the State of Roraima (which borders Venezuela).

The largest number of applications received at the CAV, with a total of 581, focused on certifying the Venezuelan driver’s license. This certification is an essential document to make the drivers license exchange before Brazil’s DETRAN, the highest state transit authority, and thus obtain the Brazilian license.

All the procedures carried out by the CAV are free, unlike what happened in the Venezuelan consulate in Boa Vista, still occupied by government officials, who charged $50.00 for issuing documents that were not valid in Brazil.

In a single month, the work of the CAV team has prevented hundreds of Venezuelans from being scammed, a fraud that would have represented the sum of US $37,350.00.
