The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, urged the international community on Tuesday to reject the electoral farce that Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship intends to carry out.
“It is definitely unacceptable from every point of view. These elections are yet another mechanism of impunity and co-optation of the Powers of the State.” said Almagro in a message posted on his official Twitter account.
In this sense, he stressed that these elections are “a gradual process that began with Chávez and has accelerated with the assumption of Nicolás Maduro.”
Likewise, Almagro reiterated that the usurpers of power in Venezuela must leave and be tried for their crimes, while also ensuring that: “each day that they continue in power means more hunger, more exodus, more impunity for the usurpers and less justice for the people.”
