This Wednesday the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, highlighted during a participation in the United States Senate, the leadership of President in Charge of Venezuela in the fight against the tyranny of Maduro, while at the same time he called on the international community to provide greater support.

“President Guaidó has done an extraordinary job. He has been a very brave man to face a dictatorship the way he has. However, he cannot do it alone. No one could do what is asked of him with the resources that he has at hand,” Almagro stated in his first words.

“For this reason, the international community must provide more help to the democratic cause of Venezuela, but real help, material help, not only international recognition that is very good, but not enough,” he added.

In this sense, the OAS Secretary General insisted that “the democratic leadership of Venezuela must be given more tools so that they can achieve freedom for their country.”

“Dictatorships only fall when they are pressured, if they are not pressured, they last for decades. The strongest sanction against Venezuela is the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro, that is the only sanction that is killing Venezuelans,” the official said.

Similarly, Almagro warned about the presence of Cuban officials in Venezuela and how they aggravate the humanitarian crisis.

“Cuba is part of the Venezuelan problem and it will not be part of the solution. It’s something we have to understand,” he concluded.
