The head of the United States Southern Command, Admiral Craig Faller, affirmed that Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship has allowed Venezuela to become a paradise for drug traffickers.
“The illegitimate Maduro regime abuses its own people, which has had a destabilizing effect in the hemisphere, forcing its own population into an exodus and to flee to other countries such as Trinidad and Tobago or Colombia,” said Faller.
The US military warned that at the same time Venezuela has become a haven for drug traffickers, “that has grown exponentially in drug trafficking and illegal mining.”
“Maduro himself benefits from that. Does this have a negative impact on the security of the United States? Of course!” Faller said.
Finally, he reported that the US Southern Command has collected information on aircraft and Cuban vessels that have served as means to transport illicit substances.
