The Government of Colombia stated before the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) its concern about the continuous alteration of the democratic order and the deterioration of political, social, economic, and humanitarian conditions in Venezuela.
The Vice President-Chancellor, Marta Lucía Ramírez, recalled that through the resolutions of January 10th, 2019 and 2020, it was resolved not to recognize the fraudulent parliamentary and presidential elections held in Venezuela, given that they were not free, fair and transparent, and did not have credible international observation.
Likewise, the Colombian delegation affirmed that the Venezuelan migration crisis, which has become the most serious in the history of the region.
In this context, they urged Maduro’s dictatorship to return to the negotiation process with the Unitary Platform and the Legitimate Government in Mexico, so that the conditions for the restoration of democracy are established, which passes through the celebration of free presidential and legislative elections.
“The international community must continue to collaborate in the search for an urgent, peaceful and lasting solution to the serious crisis in Venezuela,” she concluded.
