The Chargé d’Affaires for the U.S. Foreign Office for Venezuela, James Story, affirmed this Thursday that the U.S. government “fully” supports the Popular Consultation promoted by President (E) Juan Guaidó.
Story assured, in an interview with a national digital media, that the United States supports the proposal of the Legitimate Government to “mobilize again the population” of Venezuela.
He also recalled that the U.S. government does not have any kind of blockade against Venezuela, so the excuses of Maduro’s regime about the shortage of products in the country are a lie. He insisted that Maduro prefers to buy weapons and not food.
“Our struggle is for the Venezuelan people to be able to decide if they prefer to buy weapons or buy food,” the diplomat said.
Mr. Story also recalled that the U.S. continues its commitment to the National Assembly and to Interim President Juan Guaidó. In addition, he explained that the U.S. will not recognize any results from the electoral fraud orchestrated by the dictatorship on Dec. 6th.
