The Organization of American States (OAS) commissioner for the Venezuelan migrant and refugee crisis, David Smolansky, urged the mayor of Medellín and the governor of Magdalena in Colombia to hire Venezuelan doctors instead of Cuban ones to deal with the covid-19 pandemic.
“Medellín can incorporate migrant doctors and nurses from Venezuela to attend to COVID-19,” Smolansky said in a message posted on his official Twitter account.
The representative of the multilateral organization also indicated that “there is no need to resort to Cuban medical missions.”
“The city would have a professional, non-ideological medical service,” he concluded.
Medellín puede incorporar a médicos y enfermeras migrantes de Venezuela para atender el #COVID19. No hace falta recurrir a las misiones médicas cubanas. La ciudad tendría un servicio médico profesional y no ideologizado.
