The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Arancha González Laya, where they discussed various issues of bilateral interest.

During the meeting, one of the main points was the current crisis in Venezuela and the possible strategies to deal with it internationally.

In addition, both diplomats spoke of working hand in hand with Spain, the European Union and other allies “to face shared challenges”, and advance in the preparation for future pandemics, climate change, Russia and China.

It should be noted that since the president of the United States, Joe Biden, came to power on January 20th, he has assumed the position of ally of Venezuelan democracy, recognizing Juan Guaidó as president in charge, refusing to negotiate with Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship and committing to exert greater pressure on the regime to achieve its dismissal and the restoration of democracy in Venezuela.

Spain and the European Union have also been a fundamental piece in the path traveled by the Legitimate Government of Venezuela in its objective of dismantling the tyranny and returning the Venezuelan people to freedom.
