The Deputy of the National Assembly (AN), José Antonio Mendoza, rejected the statements made by the rapporteur of the United Nations (UN), Alena Douhan, regarding the emergency situation in Venezuela.
Likewise, he condemned that Douhan took the time to defend Nicolás Maduro’s regime.
“It is a shame that whoever claims to defend human rights as a UN rapporteur has dedicated her presentation as a defense of the interests of the dictatorship,” he said this Friday through his personal Twitter account.
The parliamentarian recalled that the UN rapporteur did not mention any of the expensive goods that the allies of the dictatorship, which are sanctioned by the United States, have acquired.
“What Mrs. Douhan does not mention in her report are the SUVs and mansions seized from those of the regime that have been sanctioned,” he concluded.
This Friday, Douhan made a public statement regarding her visit to Venezuela. The UN representative said that the sanctions issued by the United States against members of Maduro’s regime have “exacerbated” the crises that the nation is experiencing and that the financial siege has intensified.
