The Deputies of the legitimate National Assembly demand a vaccination plan with urgency, equity and universality characteristics, and condemn the policy of exclusion by the regime that is only vaccinating people who have the ‘Carnet de La Patria’ (Homeland Card, a political control mevchanism) and those who are on the lists of the Clap boxes program (another political control mechanism through food).
This was made clear throughout the debate on the violation of the right to health within the framework of the absence of a mass vaccination plan against the COVID-19 virus, held during the ordinary session of the Delegate Commission on Tuesday via zoom.
The debate was started by the Aragua State Deputy, Dinorah Figuera, who condemned that in the country there is no vaccination plan against COVID-19, despite the repeated calls for one by the academic, social, public health organizations and the legitimate National Assembly. “These demands have not had an echo in Maduro’s regime, on the contrary, only the population that is on the list of the ‘CLAP’ box program or has the ‘patria’ card is being immunized,” said Deputy Figuera.
She argued that this legitimate National Assembly should support the initiative promoted by the Academies of Medicine and Sciences, the entire healthcare sector and NGOs to address, through a letter, the High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, where they should expose with concern on the absence of information, the exclusion of healthcare personnel, of people who are not registered in the ‘Patria’ Card system, and the absence of a serious mass vaccination plan against COVID-19.
“We must request the intervention of the United Nations Human Rights Commission and the WHO so that the human rights of the people of Venezuela are respected and an official vaccination plan against COVID-19 is approved and disseminated as a matter of urgency. The national vaccination goal must reach 22 million 820 thousand people when it is finally met,” said the parliamentarian.
While the deputy for Lara State, Ana Salas, deplored and described the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic as a diabolical action of the regime and its entourage. The numbers of deaths and infected people that are reported are not the real ones, and the Vaccination plan is aimed at the population that has the ‘Patria’ card, while doctors and healthcare workers do not have protection.
“The announcement of a supposed vaccination plan is diabolical and macabre, ready to create more anxiety and despair in a people that suffers from this terrible pandemic. It is a mockery of the people and especially of our older adults. It is a right that we all have access to vaccines. Because of the regime, Venezuela remains in the last positions in Latin America in immunization against COVID-19, and to date the actual number of vaccines that have arrived in the country is unknown, because the information from the regime is contradictory.”
She demanded that all the necessary vaccines enter the country and that a true inclusive and timely mass vaccination plan be drawn up for all Venezuelans without exclusion, as a priority, in these times of pandemic.
Finally, the deputy for Barinas State, Freddy Superlano, intervened and affirmed that the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is systematically trampled and violated by the regime, particularly Article 83, which refers to a fundamental social right such as health, and that states that the State has the obligation to guarantee it, as part of the right to life.
He assured that COVID-19 is fundamentally wreaking havoc in the different neighborhoods, hamlets of large cities in the country, where this pandemic has been treated with great irresponsibility, but above all it is used as a tool of social control by the hierarchs who today usurp the power.
“They speak about mass vaccination when only a small part of the population has been vaccinated, starting with the ruling and military leadership of the regime. In Venezuela we are far from a massive vaccination plan. In order to comply with the immunity of 70 percent of the population, at least 15 million people need to be immunized, that is, one million Venezuelans per week,” said Deputy Superlano.
He indicated that the regime’s improvised vaccination plan through the Patria card platform, the same system that has been used for political discrimination in the country. In these moments when the Venezuelan State is being tried before the ICC for crimes against humanity, it continues to insist on their systematic violation by placing millions of Venezuelans, who do not agree with its socialist ideas, as enemies or adversaries of the regime.
“Is this a vaccination plan or is it another farce to maintain social control of a people terrorized by a pandemic that is claiming more lives every day? At the rate this vaccination plan is going, it is more possible that the pandemic will kill 70 percent of the population in Venezuela, than the State will vaccinate 70 percent of Venezuelans this same year.”
He specified that without a vaccine there is no plan, so several routes must be allowed for vaccines to enter the country. In his opinion, the politicization of the entry of vaccines is a “silent genocide”, which should set off the alarms of the international community.
“From this Legitimate National Assembly we urge the world to take a close look at the difficult situation in Venezuela. It is not only a complex humanitarian crisis, it is the triumph of death before the astonished gaze of a defenseless, kidnapped, threatened, tortured and persecuted people who are torn between hunger and the pandemic, but above all before the impassive gaze of the world, who only watch as hundreds of thousands cross the border to save their lives, while a ruling elite reigns over the rubble where a great country used to be,” said Superlano.
