Democratic opposition forces held a press conference with the President of the Republic and Parliament, Juan Guaidó, to act jointly against the attacks perpetrated by the regime’s Supreme Court.
Alfonso Marquina, deputy and head of Primero Justicia Party, said that the coup d’état by the judicial arm of the dictatorship against the PJ party and other parties, only seeks to lead the country to an electoral farce.
“No democratic organization is going to accompany the dictator in a false election. Even when we have voted and won, they have not respected the popular will,” he said, recalling that “protectors” (parallel governments) are imposed on governors and mayors belonging to the Unity.
The parliamentarian insisted on the installation of a National Emergency Government so that “truly free” elections can be held in the country, with political organizations that can carry out their functions without harassment.
“They are stealing our party, but what they cannot steal is the affection of our people.”
