National Assembly deputy José Manuel Olivares blamed the Nicolás Maduro dictatorship for the collapse of Venezuela’s health system and the devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
“Every Venezuelan who died from COVID-19 is Nicolás Maduro’s fault and the incapacity of the regime that wasted three months. In four months of quarantine, the hospitals were not equipped, the medical equipment was not fixed, the beds were not made available, the ventilators were not set up,” Olivares said during a press conference.
The parliamentarian warned that “Venezuela may be the greatest tragedy in the region. Today there is no scientific reason not to think that we are going there. There is no new strain in the state of Zulia, it is the same COVID-19, only that there is evidence of Nicolas Maduro’s incapacity”.
In addition, Olivares warned that “500 samples from Zulia State were lost, they never reached Caracas, which is why the dictatorship did not announce any new cases in Zulia yesterday. We are the country that does the least amount of testing. And now they are desperately trying to find these Venezuelans to repeat the test”.
He also said that “we are on the way to having the highest mortality rate in the region, because we don’t have a mask, gloves, medicines, or water. Nicolás Maduro thinks the only way to solve anything is with lead and jail, and COVID-19 cannot be solved with lead or jail.
On the other hand, he directly accused the dictatorship of lying and hiding information about the number of infections and deaths in the country.
“In the last few days, 28 Venezuelans have not been reported dead in Zulia and 44 in the rest of the country. It is impossible to understand the reach of the disease if we do not have accurate information. If it hides the deaths, it is impossible to take the necessary measures to contain the pandemic.”
“There are 116 deaths in the country but everything indicates that there are probably many more,” he added.
CALL TO VENEZUELANS
In view of the emergency situation the nation is going through, Congressman José Manuel Olivares, I urge all Venezuelans to increase their prevention measures.
“We can begin to see similar situations throughout Venezuela as in the state of Zulia,” he said.
“Take care, take your own prevention measures, because Nicolás Maduro is incapable of taking care of a life. I know there is no water and a mask can cost $2 or $3, but take this seriously. There is no hospital capacity and you must take care of yourself. The regime that usurps power has no capacity and we are on our way to being the tragedy of the continent,” he reported.
He also ratified the call for all sectors to unite to form a National Emergency Government.
“We all have to be there, it is time to give sense back to politics, politics is for this, so that no Venezuelan dies for lack of medical services.”
“It is time for us to put our conscience in Venezuela, to understand that a National Emergency Government is to provide solutions to Venezuelans. The center of the policy should be to help the people,” he said.
“There is still time to build capacity to save lives in Venezuela,” he ended.
