The Congressman and Presidential Commissioner for Health and Health Care for Migrants, José Manuel Olivares, described as irresponsible the announcements made by Nicolás Maduro’s regime about having obtained a treatment for COVID-19, by certifying the DR10 molecule as a highly effective antiviral in the fight against the coronavirus. In his opinion, these declarations respond to Maduro’s need to generate a false normality in order to lead the country into an electoral farce on Dec 6th.
“It is irresponsible to tell the world that we have the cure for the virus. That is where the dictator acknowledges we are right, where his plan to build a false normality to reach elections on the 6th of December over the dead bodies of thousands of Venezuelans is evident,” he added.
The commissioner detailed that the ursolic acid, DR10, was isolated in a laboratory by Venezuelan scientists and they observed that there are particles that fight the viral growth of the COVID-19. In the world, there would be around 200 molecules that also generate benefits in the treatment against the virus.
Olivares explained that this would be only the first step of many phases that a physician must go through before being offered to the public. “We have to see in what presentation it can be offered, if it is toxic… It is a process that takes time, money and research. Once this phase is over, animal studies are made to see if it is safe and effective and then it is tested on a small group of people… There is recognition of Venezuelan medicine, but also political and cheap manipulation to make us believe there is a cure.”
It would not be the first time that Nicolas Maduro offers “miraculous” treatments to fight the virus. Olivares recalled that in the month of October they offered two other treatments that lacked scientific support: equine plasma serum and lemon grass drops… “Nicolás Maduro again makes fun of the people by saying he has a cure,” the Commissioner emphasized.
Olivares also denounced that in Venezuela are done only 500 PCR type tests per day, which translates into a forced flattening of the infection curve. “All this responds to Maduro’s insistent plan to build a false normality that will lead us to an electoral event in December”. The parliamentarian highlighted that the hospitals: Doctor Agustín Zubillaga, in Lara; Doctor Luis Razetti, in Barinas; Miguel Pérez Carreño, in Caracas; Ranuárez Balza, in Guárico; Luis Razetti, in Anzoátegui; and the Military Hospital in Aragua do not have a service for PCR type tests.
In that sense, he announced that 20 devices arrived the country, which will be installed in hospitals and will allow 400 daily tests to detect the coronavirus. “The WHO will be in charge of the national distribution. These teams will help to reveal the truth and increase the diagnostic capacity in our country”.
With regards to the deaths from COVID-19 in Venezuela, the commissioner declared that according to the daily monitoring, they calculate at least double of what was announced by the regime: 1,614 deaths of these, 231 correspond to health personnel.
Olivares concluded by asking the WHO to make public the scientific study on DR10 so that everyone may read the reports that support this molecule and clarify the status of the drug.
