Today, in commemoration of the 210th anniversary of the independence of our sister Republic, we in the Legitimate Government of Venezuela want to honor that brotherhood that unites us from the depths of our hearts.
Colombia and Venezuela are a shared history and culture: to achieve our independence, Colombians fought for Venezuela, and Venezuelans for Colombia, with the same passion and dedication, because they were sure that beyond the borders, the present and the future is shared.
For us it is obligatory to recognize and thank that unwavering determination with which Colombia has received almost two million Venezuelans who have had to flee from this land, understanding that the only solution for this drama to stop is the end of the dictatorship in our country.
Today, unfortunately, the dictatorship has stained that binational brotherhood that has united us for two centuries. Those who from the dictatorship in Venezuela insult the common history of our two peoples, only try to hide the hunger and the tragedy they have produced with slogans of war and death, while they hoist and protect narcoterrorist groups such as the ELN and the dissidence of the FARC, destabilizing our territories and generating crimes and death.
From this side of the Arauca River, we reiterate our support for Colombia, its people, President Ivan Duque, its institutions and social sectors in the fight for peace, freedom, progress and against terrorism and the enemies of democracy. We congratulate Colombia on this new July 20th, a date to remember, but also to serve as an inspiration that, as we well know, Independence, Freedom and Democracy are an everyday conquest.
Colombia and Venezuela: two countries, a common destiny.
