The President in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, denounced that Nicolás Maduro’s regime has established a silent genocide in the country.
Last Monday, two elderly people with severe malnutrition were found dead and advanced decomposition in their home, located in the parish of Santa Rosalia, in the Libertador municipality in Caracas.
“They stole the money from the pension system, destroyed the economy and the value of the salary, they privilege imports to benefit corrupt people,” he said through his social network accounts.
The national leader manifested that Venezuela is among the five countries in the world in risk of famine due to the serious humanitarian catastrophe it is suffering.
“It would not be due to natural disasters or armed conflicts, but because they destroyed the productive apparatus. Maduro and his accomplices are responsible for these deaths due to hunger” he emphasized.
Guaidó assured that through a National Emergency Government, the country would be able to access financing and international cooperation to solve the crisis. In addition, he called on the National Armed Forces and the dictator’s entourage to act for the Venezuelans. “Would you rather have your children leave the country and Venezuelans die than have only one person leave?” he questioned.
The re-elected President of the National Assembly reiterated the commitment and responsibility to protect Venezuelans and to continue demanding international assistance.
“We will continue our efforts to seek resources that can be implemented by multilateral organizations and NGOs in Venezuela to protect our most vulnerable population,” he said.
