The President of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, is summoning world leaders for this Thursday, October 7th, to reflect on the importance of the role of democratic movements around the world and send a strong message to authoritarian regimes.
The meeting has the support of the “Alliance of Democracy”, which has served as a sponsor and organizer, with the participation of democratic leaders from Myanmar, Cuba, Hong Kong, Belarus, Nicaragua and Uganda, among other countries.
“On September 15th, the world celebrated the International Day of Democracy. On that day, defenders of democracy around the world raised our voices against authoritarianism. However, the search for a democratic world is not just one day, it is every day,” said the interim president.
He also pointed out that “democracy is a form of government that must be constantly cared for and deepened within the framework of citizen co-responsibility, respect for the Law, institutions and the rule of law by everyone.”
The activity will be held at 10:00 am (Venezuela time) and those who wish to participate can do so by entering this link on the Zoom platform:
