Neighbors from different communities in Lara State denounced that the state’s electricity company Corporación Eléctrica Nacional, S.A. (Corpoelec) is installing old equipment that has collapsed in a matter of hours.
In the ‘San Juan de Barquisimeto’ sector, after more than a month without service caused by the explosion of a transformer, Corpoelec personnel took it away for repair and reinstalled it, but after a few days it exploded again, a situation similar to the one that residents of the ‘La Carucieña’ urbanism went through.
“On several occasions we have had to connect to the little park, which could lead to overload affecting the inhabitants over there,” denounced Arcaluz Payare, one of the affected neighbors.
Likewise, she confessed that they are having serious problems buying food, because they must buy non-perishable food, but the money is not enough for this kind of product.
This situation is repeated throughout the state. In the Torres municipality there is currently a deficit of more than 70 transformers among its 14 parishes, affecting the quality of life of thousands of people who, coupled with the economic crisis, now do not even have electricity.
