Health experts from the ‘Frente Amplio Profesional’ affirm that there is an alarming increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 and hospital centers are collapsed and are in a precarious state.
For doctors and nursing specialists from the ‘Frente Amplio Profesional’ (FAP) it is evident that Nicolás Maduro’s regime has no control over the COVID-19 pandemic and they affirm that its officials have only shown incapacity particularly the commission that he appointed to attend to everything related to this serious public health problem.
“Venezuela faces the third wave of the pandemic in worse sanitary conditions than in 2020. The increase in special cases in Caracas, Vargas and the state of Miranda is notorious and public. The most serious thing is that the hospitals are collapsed, continue in a precarious state and without supplies. There are no beds in the intensive care units (ICU) and there are no serious operations to carry out screening tests for the disease,” FAP maintains.
“The truth is that they did nothing in terms of prevention before the pandemic arrived in the country, something that everyone knew was inevitable. Aand that inaction persists, because the situation of the healthcare system far from improving has worsened. Disability, apathy and deafness is what has characterized the officials of the commission that was appointed by Maduro to attend to everything related to this serious problem,” stated FAP.
The experts from the ‘Frente Amplio Profesional-Salud’, in their 59th weekly report that covers the dates from 10-04-2021 to 10-10-2021, again emphasize the existence of an under-registration in the number of cases and deaths and in the opacity of information with everything that has to do with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The existence of an under-registration is undeniable. If you take time each day for a week to do the work of checking social networks, say Twitter, and take into account the number of deaths reported by the relatives of the fatal victims of the coronavirus, you will find that they are more than reported by the regime. But we too, who are in healthcare centers, observe that the numbers of infected and deceased are greater than what they say,” it emphasized.
Considering the above, it is clear then that there is an inconsistency in the figures that they supply to the public. This irregular fact is detrimental. On the one hand, healthcare experts must know the real figures to be able to combat the disease more efficiently and, on the other, it causes citizens to ease protection measures because they believe that the number of infected is low,” it said.
“In our opinion, this inconsistency in the figures can have two readings. The first is that the regime hides reality to show that it has the pandemic under control, which is false, and the second is that there are failing to register the diagnoses and collecting information on deaths that occur in healthcare centers and in private clinics.”
INCREASE IN CASES AND LACK OF CRITERION
“The above scenario places us in a context in which the number of cases caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus will most likely continue to rise. For this assessment we take into account the presence of the delta variant in the national territory. As the experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) have pointed out, this variant has a high rate of transmissibility and the ability to cause a severe form of the disease. They have also shown that it spreads easily and quickly amongst the population. This means that in fact the cases of coronavirus will rise and therefore, as there are more infections, the mortality figures will also increase,” FAP stated.
“Another aspect that worries us is the commitment of the regime to force children to go back to school. We share the point of view of the infectologist MD. Julio Castro, who said that it is incongruous that children are taken to schools even with the numbers of infections and deaths provided by the regime. Dr. Castro also warned that the development of the disease in children is no less serious and that the delta variant is more transmissible. Apart from the fact that this return to classes cannot be mandatory for children and for those teachers who have not been vaccinated. We will only add to what was said by Dr. Julio Castro that before sending their children to schools and colleges parents and representatives should inspect the facilities very well to determine if they are suitable for an eventual return to classes.”
“Therefore, from the Broad Professional-Health Front we call on the citizens of the country to get vaccinated, because this can save their lives. In the same way, we encourage you to comply with all personal protection measures, that is, keep the physical distance of at least one and a half meters, prioritize open spaces out in the street and that there is good ventilation in closed spaces, wash hands with water and soap, or use of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and of course, the correct use of face masks. We know that everyone knows these measures, but it is never wrong to repeat them, ” emphasized the healthcare professionals of the FAP.
HEALTHCARE SECTOR RECORDS ONE DECEASED FROM COVID-19
The aforementioned report on health and healthcare of the Frente Amplio Profesional for the weekly period from Oct-04-2021 to Oct-10-2021, only registered the death of nurse Marisol Olmeta in Miranda State, but they warn that they are in the confirmation process of two more deaths.
With this loss for the nursing union, the figure in the healthcare sector rose to 939 deaths caused by this disease since the beginning of the pandemic in Venezuela, on March 13th, 2020.
It should be noted that these weekly reports include all those who make up the healthcare services in Venezuela, such as doctors, nurses, technical professionals, orderlies, ambulance drivers and workers who work in hospitals. Likewise, doctors and nursing workers who die abroad, they being migrants, because of the Venezuelan crisis.
