In recent days, different social and political sectors of the country have taken to the streets demanding an auditable Vaccination Plan without politicization, giving priority to at-risk and vulnerable communities.
The medical union in Carabobo denounced that free exercise (independent practice) physicians have not been included in the massive vaccination plan against COVID-19.
The spokesmen asked the Carabobo Institute for Health (Insalud), attached to the Carabobo Government, a detailed schedule of vaccination days where there is no discrimination.
The Director of the United Doctors of Venezuela, Carabobo chapter, Leyla Ortiz, indicated that during the vaccination session held last weekend at the South Recreational Park of Valencia, the workers of the free exercise healthcare sector were not summoned in this phase of vaccinations. She pointed out that they were rejected because they were not on lists of clinics or any particular institution.
“We demand that the vaccination be done formally, through the Ministry of Health. We are a first and second line population,” she said.
For her part, the president of the College of Physicians in Carabobo, Lila Magallanes, explained that they recently did a survey to their members in which of the 800 doctors who participated, only 9% have received immunization against COVID-19.
She indicated that to date 51 doctors have died from complications associated with COVID-19.
Magallanes said that since last February when vaccination against COVID-19 began in the state, the health authorities have not established a concise plan for workers in the healthcare sector.
The union representatives described the situation as “alarming” and demanded that the authorities of Nicolás Maduro’s regime address their claims.
