Members of different sectors of civil society and unions from Caracas and Vargas State, made public the signing of a “proclamation” to join the call to participate in the popular consultation process to be held between December 7th and 12th.
The act was attended by the emeritus magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice, Blanca Rosa Mármol de León, who assured that participation in the popular consultation is essential to be able to give a decisive image to the world that Venezuela is fighting for its freedom and that rejects the fraudulent election of a new parliament.
“Doing nothing is not an option, we are democrats and we are fighting for democracy. We must make it clear that we reject the Dec 6th fraud. Article 70 of our constitution supports us and makes the consultation binding.” stated the ex-magistrate Mármol de León.
For her part, Vargas radiologist Alcides Oduber, rejected the deaths of children in hospitals, stating that it is not only due to lack of medicine, but also due to malnutrition.
“What are we going to do after December 12th? After December 12, we have to make a firm and forceful decision in this historic moment that the country is experiencing. We have to give an answer to the children of JM de los Ríos, we have to give an answer to the elderly and Venezuelans who at this time have not had breakfast,” Oduber said.
“This popular consultation does not belong to an individual, it belongs to an entire people, it is a popular feeling and we firmly call for participation,” Rubén Roca also said, while affirming that there is no possible excuse for opposition factors not to support participation in the event.
Furthermore, the jurist Emilio Negrín called on all parties and organizations opposed to Maduro’s regime, assuring that civil society demands that they stand on the side of democracy and call for participation in the popular consultation ”
For his part, Douglas León Natera, president of the Venezuelan Medical Federation, offered a balance on the situation of the pandemic and other pathologies that are experienced daily in healthcare centers due to the incompetence of the regime. “95% of Venezuelan doctors are with the popular consultation,” he said.
The act culminated in the swearing in of these democratic sectors of the country to commit themselves to advance the freedom of Venezuela and elections in accordance to the law and they also signed the manifesto.
