This Wednesday morning November 4th, a press conference was held by the Political Command for the Popular Consultation to be held between December 5th and 12th of this year. The event was attended by the spokespersons of the National Assembly Karim Vera, Biaggio Pilieri, Williams Davila and Olivia Lozano, together with National Secretary General Copei and member of the National Political Command, Robert Garcia, who assured that: “we Venezuelans have an individual responsibility in the coming weeks. We must reflect on what each one of us can contribute in this struggle.”
Garcia also used the opportunity to remind the audience of the tools to enable participation in the Popular Consultation: “There are several mechanisms: the digital ones – mobile application, WhatsApp, Facebook and Web Page – will be available from December 5th to 12th, which is the day when all Venezuelans will ratify their participation in person at more than 7,000 voting tables distributed in 3,000 strategically located points.
Regarding the questions to be asked, Representative Williams Davila reminded that up to now there are only two questions contemplated with simple selection answers. The first one about rejection of the electoral fraud on Dec 6th and the second one about asking for approval of any type of international support as a result of the crisis that Venezuela is currently going through. “Both questions were previously approved in a National Assembly session and if any change is to be made it must also be approved by Parliament, but so far only these two questions exist”.
On the other hand, MP Karim Vera affirmed that the time has come to open the doors of freedom in Venezuel, and it is necessary to organize and raise our voices. Furthermore, Biaggio Pilieri took the opportunity to recall that there are 31 days left for the Popular Consultation to take place and he highlighted the leading role that Venezuelans have during the different phases of this process: “Citizens are the protagonists, there is no time to lose, the parties and unions are instruments of articulation for the motivation and mobilization of the Venezuelan population”.
To conclude, it was announced that in the next few days, the Parish Comandos and voting centers will be sworn in throughout the country.
