The crisis in Venezuela has aggravated the educational sector, Children and youngsters do not have the optimal facilities for the development of their academic activities.
The ‘Felipa Nery de Narváez’ Educational Unit in the island of Coche, Nueva Esparta State, does not have the required conditions to start classes, and it is the only campus of this type located on the island.
The teachers of school affirmed that they do not have supplies to guarantee the minimum biosafety standards in that institution and they have not supplied them with food to start the school cafeteria and feed the students.
“We cannot guarantee biosecurity because we do not have the implements, we are going through a lot of needs. We do not have food, services, maintenance for the school, school supplies for the students,” denounced Carmen Lunar, a teacher at the campus.
The teachers demand that Nicolás Maduro’s regime and the regional authorities meet the needs of the two existing educational establishments on the island of Coche, so that students can resume activities without a high risk of Covid-19 contagion.
