Venezuelan youth, students and civil society undertook this Saturday, June 5th, the second phase of the so-called “Route through Venezuela”, with the aim of making the reality of the country visible to everyone.
They will travel 4,500 kilometers divulging the situation and making known to the world the crisis that the nation is going through.
From the main mobilization points in various cities of the country, youths promoted the goal of the National Salvation Agreement, while expressing the need for a change in the country based on unity and transparency.
Monagas, Mérida, Zulia and the Capital District were among the states of Venezuela that were the scene of mobilizations led by those who will write the future of the nation. The positive reactions on social networks give encouragement to those who suffer in their own flesh the negligence inflicted by the dictatorship.
Activists from the democratic forces accompanied the initiative of youth and students from every part of the country, reaffirming their support for all the struggles that are to be united in one.
The interruptions by the Bolivarian National Guard were immediate, since early in the morning they began to prevent the passage of the demonstrations. Young people unafraid of persecution fought to accomplish their goals.
Three roads, one route
“Since 2014, we students have been on the streets facing Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship. The Route through Venezuela starts from Zulia today, all students stand up because Venezuela needs it that way (…) Venezuela needs quality of life for all its citizens, Venezuela needs to choose freely, Venezuela needs open public universities, Venezuela needs a serious vaccination plan for all Venezuelans,” stated Yeissel Pérez, President of the FCU of the University of Zulia (FCU-Federation of Universtity Student Unions).
Pérez assured to Maduro’s regime and those who intimidate them, that they will continue to fight. He stated this from the entrance of the General Rafael Urdaneta bridge, that they are standing up for the country, because they and all Venezuelans are the true sufferers of this crisis.
José Gregorio “Goyo” Caribas, president of Un Nuevo Tiempo Caracas, accompanying the youth protest declared: “We are here in Caracas to support these young people who start the Route through Venezuela today, we have highlighted the support that must be given to them so that they carry this message to the population.” He affirmed that young people are calling on Venezuelans to join the initiative.
On the other hand, Deputy María Gabriela Hernández said that “we will be organizing different activities of mobilization and peaceful demonstration. Their objective is to add and incorporate all social sectors from all over the country at the service of material, moral and democratic change.” She also assured that the time to go out (protest) is now.
In Carabobo, the leader of Voluntad Popular, Ángel Álvarez Gil, made an appearance at the meeting point of the activity where he highlighted: “From Carabobo, we support this Route through Venezuela in a determined and committed way,” he said in a video published in his Twitter account.
“The ‘Ruta por Venezuela’ (#RutaXVzla) a demonstration of commitment, courage and sacrifice that forces us to every day be more committed to them and our desire for freedom. God bless you!” Wrote the Deputy of the legitimate National Assembly.
“As expected, the repressive bodies of the regime block our peaceful protest at the beginning of the #RutaXVzla, today more than ever we are full of faith and hope to reach the central region,” said Samy Coquies, Youth Coordinator of Voluntad Popular in Zulia.
Likewise, the student leader Brenner Barrios stressed that despite the intimidation, the objective of the route is very clear: to make the country’s crisis visible and work for solutions. He asserted that the Venezuelan youth will not give up.
This route, that will end on June 24th, shows the population the courage and optimism of the Venezuelan youth to rescue the country. The work of all citizens must be directed to support and promote all efforts to achieve a better country.
